Alicante Beach Bars – All in One List

Located on the stunning Mediterranean coastline, Alicante is a fantastic choice for those looking to experience Spanish beach life and enjoy a well-deserved vacation. While relaxing on the beach and soaking in the sun, you’re likely to get thirsty. And what’s a better solution than heading to a nearby beach bar in Alicante?

Alicante boasts a sizable beach near the city centre, known as Playa del Postiguet. This beach, stretching close to 1 km (0.6 miles), tends to get quite busy in the summer because of its convenient location, favourable water quality, and, of course, the variety of bar options.

As you explore Alicante beach bars and their offerings, you’ll also find it easier to choose the perfect spot for your parasol and beach towel. So, without further ado, here’s my comprehensive list of all the beach bars in Alicante for you to enjoy.

Quick overview over all Alicante beach bars in 2024

  1. Gomiz – The best beach bar in Alicante for views and great frozen daiquiris.
  2. Xiriguito Postiguet – The best beach bar in Alicante if you want to sit directly on the beach.
  3. Restaurante Mediterraneum – Plenty of cocktail and food options with a view of the beach.
  4. Restaurante “Kiosco Miramar” – A restaurant and beach bar in one, located right by the promenade.
  5. 100 Montaditos – Affordable drinks by the beach with views of Castillo de Santa Bárbara.
  6. Puntapiedra – A beach club in Alicante, a bit further away, offering lots of space and comfortable seating.
  7. Marmarela Mediterranean Cocktail Club – A beach club in Alicante with a pool and plenty of late-night events.
  8. Samoa Café del Puerto – High-quality cocktails near the Alicante beach with views of the marina.

1. Gomiz

Frozen daiquiri with a seaview at Gomiz bar, one of the top Alicante beach bars

If you ask me , one of the best beach bar in Alicante is Gomiz. If you’re lucky or don’t mind waiting a bit, you can easily secure a seat right next to the promenade that offers a breathtaking view of the blue sea. So, if you’re like me and enjoy people-watching while sipping on a cocktail, this Alicante beach bar is perfect for you.

Regarding the quality of the drinks – and the establishment as a whole – I find the prices very reasonable. The cocktail selection includes classics like Long Island Ice Tea, Aperol Spritz, and, for those warm days, the ultimate choice – a frozen daiquiri. Absolutely delicious!

2. Xiriguito Postiguet

Drinks and view from the Alicante beach bar Xiriguito Postiguet

Once you take a stroll to the end of the beach, you will come across the only bar on this list that is actually situated right on the beach, sand and all. Xiriguito Postiguet is a great spot for drinks, lighter snacks, and occasionally, some sweet DJs. The interior complements the strandbar perfectly, and the menu offers a wide variety of options.

It’s worth noting that there are limited seats if you wish to stay in the shade. If you don’t mind the heat, you’re sure to find a place on the sand. Additionally, you have the option to get a takeaway drink and enjoy it at the nearby shelter with some benches.

3. Restaurante Mediterraneum

If you enter Playa del Postiguet from the harbourside, you will first come across Mediterraneum (Bar-restaurant & cocktails). Some might consider this place a tourist trap due to its relatively high food prices. However, if you’re just looking for a drink or a cocktail, your wallet won’t take too much of a hit.

Popular choices for a refreshing sip include their pina colada, served in a pineapple, or a mojito with a variety of flavours to choose from. They also offer a wide selection of sangria drinks, which can be served in a sharable jug if you prefer.

4. Restaurante “Kiosco Miramar”

Restaurante Kiosco Miramar view and drink menu

With a menu placed right on the table, you can easily see what’s on offer here in terms of food. To be honest, the first time I visited, I was shocked by the food prices, most of which started at €20 and went up. While the food was enjoyable, I didn’t appreciate the hole it left in my wallet.

When it comes to drinks and cocktails by the beach, it’s a bit of a different story. The prices are what you’d expect for the area, but there’s a wide selection to choose from. You also have the option to skip the questionable table design and get your drinks to go, which is what I’ve mostly used this place for.

As you may have noticed, the prices and offerings don’t really differ from the neighbouring restaurant-bar Mediterraneum. So, don’t feel like you’re missing out if you have to choose between visiting one of them.

5. 100 Montaditos

100 Montaditos at Alicante beach

If you’re on a mission to experience Spanish life, you can’t afford to miss 100 Montaditos – a tapas chain that covers most of Spain. While not technically classified as a beach bar, they offer all the beverages you need to beat the heat, along with a generous selection of tapas, right next to the sea.

Their drink offerings include wine, beer, and some basic cocktails that can be mixed according to your preference. The prices are very reasonable, considering the being able to view the beach and the castle – which is by the way best viewed from one of the rooftop bars in Alicante.

If you have limited spending during your visit, 100 Montaditos is the most budget-friendly option you’ll find among the beachside bars. Plus, it’s an excellent choice if you’re seeking shade from the sun in the afternoon.

6. Puntapiedra

Drinks and snack at the beach bar Puntapiedra in Alicante

If you decide to venture even further from Playa del Postiguet, you will come across a smaller beach that Google likes to refer to as Cala del Club de Regatas. In this area, you can discover options for water sports, a larger outdoor pool, and the noteworthy beach club in Alicante, Puntapiedra.

Puntapiedra has the most luxurious and spacious areas of all the previously mentioned bars. Besides offering high-end cocktails and drinks, you can also order some food, either outdoors or indoors in the restaurant. There are plenty of different seating options to choose from, and if you’re lucky, you might find a sunbed next to the pool—or, well, more like a smaller pond to dip some body parts in.

If you are wondering why the score is so low for such a cool-sounding place, well… unfortunately, some of the staff are not really up for the task. Plenty of visitors have reported long waiting times along with bad service in general. Luckily, this was not the case when I was there.

7. Marmarela Mediterranean Cocktail Club

Drink at Marmarela Mediterranean Cocktail Club in Alicante

If you’d like to avoid the sandy parts but still want to enjoy some sun and water, Marmarela Mediterranean Cocktail Club is an option to consider. This Alicante beach club with pool is mainly famous for hosting parties all night long with both famous and local DJs. However, during the day, it’s a place to relax by the (somewhat small) pool and enjoy a few cocktails while listening to whatever theme they have for the day.

Personally, I find this place more suited to a younger party crowd, but don’t let the youth intimidate you. It’s a nice area to walk to, and the drinks are pretty good, though a bit pricey. If you check out their homepage, you might even find an exciting event that suits your taste.

8. Samoa Café del Puerto

Cocktail drink and harbour view at Soho Mar bar Alicante

To keep it an even number – I highly recommend you stop by Samoa Café del Puerto (previously called Soho Mar). This bar by the beach in Alicante is just a castaway to the water, and you get to trade the view of burned bums and screaming kids for the beautiful harbour in Alicante. In terms of drink options and interior, you would also step up your game a bit with a wide and unique selection, which also places Samoa in my list of best Alicante cocktail bars.

To warn you beforehand, this place tends to become packed really quickly during the off hours and weekends. Even so, the staff is from my experience really friendly and will gladly make sure you get a seat as soon as one is available.

Bonus: Buying Sangria straight on the beach

Man preparing sangria on Alicante beach

If you visit the beach here in Alicante, you will most likely come across some people selling Sangria in large plastic cups. Typically, they charge a few euros each. Is it a fair drink for the price?

To be honest, it depends on your standards and whether you enjoy the classic Don Simon Sangria (because that’s what it is my friend). Personally, I’m not a fan of this inexpensive store-bought version; it’s way too sweet for my taste. However, don’t hesitate to go for it if you’re really thirsty (and a bit too lazy to walk to any of the other beach bars nearby).

Final words regarding Alicante beach bars

If you plan on visiting Alicante you should by all means visit the beach (I mean, why else are you going to the coast of Spain?), and of course, a bar. But don’t become limited to the closest Alicante beach bar to your accommodation.

From Playa del Postiguet and Alicante Centre, you can easily jump on a tram or bus to explore even bigger beaches a bit up North. A 20-minute ride costing a few euros can easily be worth your time and money if you want some more space in the sand, along with even more beach bar options.

Benidorm, which can be reached by tram in just over an hour, is another great option boasting beach bars and wonderful sea and beach views.

Best of luck and don’t forget to drink plenty of water and slap on that sunscreen!
