Rooftop Bars in Alicante – Top 6 You Need to Visit

If you love rooftop bars, Alicante is a great pick when you’re in Spain. This lovely city on the Costa Blanca coast has plenty to offer in terms of drinks and food, and a few gems if you like a view from up top – including the noteworthy Castillo de Santa Bárbara.

After living in the city for a year, I had the chance to check out all rooftop bars in Alicante and can happily share the best of them with you – including prices, ratings, and what you can expect. It’s a unique way to see the city from above while enjoying some great tastes and taking some memorable pictures.

1. La Milagrosa Rooftop

View and drinks from La Milagrosa Rooftop

Ranking number one of the best Alicante rooftop bars in Alicante is La Milagrosa, a bar and café located on top of the hotel with the same name. The place stands out as having a direct view of the Castillo and a lot of open space to enjoy the sunshine during the day. A bonus point is that it’s right next to the church Basilica de Santa Maria d’Alacant, which further enhances the views.

Drink-wise you have all the standard cocktails present, such as Mojito, Aperol Spritz, and Margarita. Of course, wine, beer, and vermouth will also be on the list. While sipping down you can also enjoy some smaller food items such as Russian Salad and Patata Bravas, or enjoy a smaller complementary snack (usually candy or chips).

  • Opening hours: 09:00-23:00 (00:00 on Friday and Saturday)
  • General prices per drink: 8 € (classic cocktails), 5 € (sangria)
  • Beer and wine prices: 2.50-5 €
  • Location: C. de la Villavieja, 8, 03002 Alicante
  • Google rating: 4.3 ⭐

2. Cuppola Cocktail Bar

Like most Alicante rooftop bars, Cuppola is temporarily closed during the winter season (usually December to March), but if you manage to time it correctly, it is a worthy addition to the list of rooftop bars in Alicante. Following the trend, this bar is located on top of a hotel, specifically, DormirDCine Alicante. It also offers a small space to splash around, but I wouldn’t go further than potentially dipping my toes or seeing it as a nice element in a photo.

In terms of presentation, this place stands out among all rooftop bars, along with cocktail bars in Alicante overall. With a movie theme, you can sip on cocktails like the Torre de Sauron (Lord of the Rings) from a tower itself, Ali Baba and The 40 Thieves in Genie’s Lamp, of course, or why not try Sex in the City from a high-heeled shoe. The food is also worth your time, with interesting fusions and photo-worthy plating.

3. Terraza Mira Miralta rooftop

Located on top of Eurostars Pórtico Alicante, you will find the high bar Terraza Mira Miralta, which offers a prime view over Alicante Town Hall Square. It provides a great open space and views to enjoy a drink or coffee. Being situated in an older building and featuring an interior with high tables, it’s the perfect place to end or start your evening in a classy manner.

The drinks are presented beautifully and range from familiar favorites to unique twists. I highly recommend their Moscow Mule, served in the traditional metallic cup. Even here, you’ll find a small selection of tapas to spice things up – such as Iberian ham, patatas bravas, and a club sandwich.

4. Restaurante Italiano Casanova

I discovered this hidden gem accidentally while having dinner at a very cozy-looking Italian restaurant that, to my surprise, featured a rooftop bar – a perfect way to conclude the meal. The rooftop was accessible by climbing quite a few stairs, which – another surprise – was part of a smaller hotel. However, once I reached the top, I was truly amazed by the interior and the overall atmosphere.

In terms of drinks, you’ll encounter a few classic cocktails as well as standard wine and beer options. The service was pleasant (even though the waiter had to run up and down the stairs during our visit). Quality-wise, I wouldn’t say the cocktails were perfect, but the overall experience was top-notch!

As a bonus, if you are a fan of live music and/or flamenco, be sure to check out their Facebook page for upcoming (weekly) events!

5. Highbar Rooftop

Another great choice if you want to take some lovely pictures with the Castillo in the background. It’s also one of the few bars, or more accurately hotels, that offers a pool with a view. So, if you’re planning to soak it all in for a few hours, you can check out their deals on the Highbar rooftop website.

If your main target is the bar, there are some interesting choices if you’re a cocktail lover, with ingredients such as wasabi gin, croissant rum, or even avocado tequila. There will surely be something you haven’t had the chance to try before. If you prefer something simpler, there’s also a wide range of wines and spirits available.

6. La Placa Gastro Mercat

Drink and rooftop view from La Placa Gastro Mercat

The only rooftop bar in Alicante that isn’t in the old town (also known as Casco Antiguo) is La Placa Gastro Mercat, previously called The Botanical’s Sky Bar. If you find yourself near the train station or shopping at El Corte Inglés, it’s worth a visit, just don’t expect the view to be as good. However, this is balanced by their wide range of food offerings – market style.

They unfortunately don’t offer cocktails anymore (after the “Sky Bar” was closed down), so you have to settle for the basics – wine, cava, beer, and, spirits with mixers. And while in Spain, I can highly recommend gin and tonics – if you like your percentage for the money.

  • Opening hours: 10:00 – 22:00
  • General prices per drink: 7 €
  • Location: Av. Maisonnave, 03003 Alicante (floor G, El Corte Inglés)
  • Google rating: 4.3 ⭐

To Summarize Alicante Rooftop Bars

The number of rooftop bars in Alicante is limited, but they are of good quality. The general rating (according to Google) is 4.2, which is around the same as beach bars in Alicante. A common feature of all the best rooftop bars in Alicante is that they are mostly located in the old town, nestled between Castell de Santa Bárbara and the Playa del Postiguet, and on top hotels.

If you’re visiting Alicante, whether it’s just for a day, a week, or longer, I highly recommend checking out one of these sky bars. They offer a fantastic view of the city and (most) the castle while also giving you a chance to appreciate the overall architecture. The prices are more than reasonable, and the selection of drinks is varied enough to suit anyone’s taste, whether they prefer alcohol or not.
