Cocktails from 3 of the best cocktail bars in Alicante.

Best Cocktail Bars in Alicante – Top 10 in 2024

From a simple Gin and Tonic to eye-catching molecular cocktails, Alicante has it all! The city, situated along the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, is a popular tourist destination for both residents of Spain and those from abroad. Enjoying the sun is certainly a must, considering it shines on average every day, but enjoying a good cocktail may also be considered essential.

In this list, I have gathered the 10 best cocktail bars in Alicante, complete with locations, opening hours, and general prices per drink. The selection is based on my own experiences, while also taking general reviews into consideration. Let’s get sipping!

1. 26 Cocktail Room

Cocktails at 26 Cocktail Room in Alicante

Coming up strong as the number one choice among all Alicante cocktail bars is 26 Cocktail Room. This gem, located in the city center near the old town, doesn’t only offer mind-blowing cocktails but also a memorable experience. Each of their drinks is well-presented – both visually and verbally by your designated bartender. Moreover, the interior is spot-on, and you can also enjoy the outdoor seating facing the Portal de Elche Park.

But let’s delve more into the cocktails here; what can you expect? Well, anything from a giant Solero popsicle and a hippie bus (hiding a “secret”) to a treasure chest enough to serve four people. The menu, accessible via a QR code, is filled with interesting choices, and it’s hard to choose just one.

Overall, 26 Cocktail Room is a highly recommended experience if you are visiting Alicante and enjoy cool and innovative drinks. Just be aware of the limited space, especially on weekend evenings.

2. Samoa Café del Puerto

Cocktails and views at Samoa Café del Puerto

If you enjoy having a cocktail outdoors, especially by the sea (which is likely one of the main reasons you’re visiting Alicante), Samoa Café del Puerto is an Alicante cocktail bar worth your time. This is my top pick for enjoying a drink at sunset, thanks to the harbor view, comfortable seating, and the last rays of sunshine on the city.

You’ll find classic cocktails like Mojitos, Aperol Spritz, and Margaritas, along with their own creative concoctions. The QR menu (also available in English) features some smaller meals if you’d like to pair your drink with a bite.

This place is really popular in Alicante, so don’t be discouraged if you need to wait a bit for a table during peak hours. Some people have mentioned that the service can be slow, but in my experience, I find the waiters to be friendly and attentive, considering the workload.

3. The Whisper Cocktail Company

If you’re looking for something more calm and secluded, in good old Gatsby style, The Whisper Cocktail Company might be a better fit. This small and charming bar, located in the middle of it all, offers you the option to be both inside and outside.

You will find plenty of unique cocktails originally created by the bar itself, along with all the standard options. The overall atmosphere is top-notch, as is the friendliness and service of the waiters. Personally, I recommend visiting in the later hours, and while the sun is up, finding something more open. But hey, all up to you.

4. Oculto Alicante

Cocktails and interior at Oculto in Alicante

If you want to mix fancy with relaxed, or what some might call “mysterious,” Oculto Alicante could be worth trying. This cocktail bar in Alicante has two floors and offers a great setting for your must-have social media photos – both the interior and the drinks look amazing.

I really enjoyed spending a bit over an hour there, chatting and sipping some high-quality drinks without spending a lot of money. The service and prices were both great. It’s important to know that they don’t serve “real” food, just small snacks, so it’s a good idea to eat something substantial before you dive in.

5. FLORIPA

Drinks and views at Floripa cocktail bar in Alicante

If you prefer something small and a bit more personal, FLORIPA could be the Alicante cocktail bar for you. The two owners are not only skilled at their craft but also super friendly and have created a very welcoming atmosphere, which can be enjoyed both inside and outside on the somewhat busy street. I mean, I think the high rating on Google speaks for itself.

Apart from a range of classic cocktails that both look and taste fantastic, they have created their own twists, which also live up to the hype. I mean, how can one not be curious about a Golden Whiskey Sour, Amalfi Fizz, and an OnlyFans Martini? And if the munchies hit you, you can choose from smaller bites such as their homemade guacamole, empanadas, and patatas bravas.

  • Cocktail prices: €8-10
  • Opening hours: 09:00-14:30, 18:00-01:00 (closed on Sundays)
  • Location: C. Bazán, 24, 03001 Alicante
  • Google rating: 5.0 ⭐

6. Cuppola Cocktail Bar

Cocktail and view from Cuppola rooftop bar

If you’re on the lookout for a rooftop bar in Alicante that knows its way around drinks, Cuppola is a great choice. Located on top of the hotel DormirDCine Alicante, it offers a great view (especially around sunset) and a menu full of interesting choices. The theme is movies, and you will find drinks based on Lord of the Rings, The Shining, Aladdin, and much more.

When you see how the drinks are presented, you won’t be able to resist taking a photo, trust me. The same goes for the food, which could be described as “fusions,” mixing the flavors of Spain and Asia. It’s not for those who are very hungry, but it sure can satisfy your snack cravings.

Staying at the hotel to shorten the distance to the cocktail bar is also recommended. Even though I haven’t personally done so, the reviews of 4.4 out of 5 on Google and 8.6 out of 10 on Booking.com make a valid case.

7. Plaza Mexico

Mexican cocktails at Plaza Mexico in Alicante

I don’t know about you, but I’m a sucker for Mexican cocktails, no matter where I’m traveling. As for finding them in Alicante, Plaza Mexico became my favorite place. Margaritas (frozen and not frozen), Palomas, Charro Negro, and much more await on the menu.

Besides those delicious, spicy, and citrusy sips, Plaza Mexico also offers amazing food, which, of course, is in the same genre. The interior is also worth a visit, along with the great service and overall atmosphere. So, if you wish to spice up your taste buds (and day), this is the place to go.

8. La Guapa Vermuteria Mercado

Vermouth and tapas at La Guapa Vermuteria Mercado in Alicante

A visit to Mercat Central d’Alacant can not only provide you with fresh fruit, fish, or other goods but also a really good vermouth experience. In case you didn’t know, even though Alicante is mainly known for its wine production, it also makes vermouth – a type of fortified wine flavored with various botanicals. You’ll find plenty of bars in the city that specialize in this drink, often enjoyed as an aperitif with tapas.

From all my vermouth-tasting experiences, La Guapa Vermuteria Mercado made the biggest impression. The variety of options is nearly endless, and you can also enjoy some of the tapas offered. Unless you’re inexperienced with vermouth, the bartender will be happy to help you find something you’ll like.

I’m not the only one who loves this bar, and, unfortunately, it can get quite busy, especially on weekends. Also, consider that the market is only open during the day, for a very limited time. So, if you’re on vacation, be prepared for a tipsy trip early in the day during a weekday

9. Gomiz

Cocktails and views from the Alicante bar Gomiz

Okay, this is technically not a cocktail bar, BUT they do offer a few options, such as frozen daiquiri and Long Island Iced Tea, along with all the basic drinks. It’s one of the best beach bars in Alicante if you’re looking for a view of the beach, a nice atmosphere, and (in my experience) top-notch service.

If you’re in need of a snack or a smaller bite (like nachos), they’ve got you covered. The menu can be easily accessed through a QR code and is available in English. If you’re lucky, don’t hesitate to take the front seats facing directly toward the sea and the oh-so-lovely sun.

10. Pelican Club

Cocktails at Pelican Club in Alicante

A tram ride of around 20 minutes from Alicante center will take you to San Juan Playa and Pelican Club. As the name might suggest, this place is not only for cocktails and chilling but also for moving those hips. But don’t worry, it’s a quite spacious nightclub and spot-on in terms of atmosphere.

Drink-wise, you’ll basically find everything: Espresso Martini, Daiquiri, sour drinks, Mojito, and so on. To match the high-end interior, they are presented neatly by a professional bartender whose workstation is placed in the middle of it all.

Of course, there’s no need to go here for a wild party night; you can peacefully enjoy yourself before or after dinner (and before the louder crowd comes around). Alternatively, you can pop by Pelican Restaurante next door, which has the same quality but in a more calm manner.

To summarize the best Alicante cocktail bars

There’s a lot to choose from in Alicante when it comes to cocktails, and even the simplest bars offering them might have something interesting to offer. Most bars are located around the old town, also known as El Barrio, while the area around San Juan Play also can offer some great finds.

When choosing the best cocktail bar in Alicante for you, consider what kind of experience you’re looking for. Do you want to be outside? Try something beyond a classic cocktail? Or perhaps you’re seeking a quiet and cozy atmosphere, perfect for a date or a long conversation. No matter what, there are delicious options available, and you shouldn’t hesitate to try a few of them.

Enjoy your drinks and don’t forget to drink water every now and then!
